Po śmierci tureckiej prawniczki Ebru Timtik

Komisja Praw Człowieka KRRP z ogromnym smutkiem przyjęła wiadomość o śmierci adwokatki Ebru Timtik, orędowniczki praw człowieka, która poniosła największą ofiarę, decydując się na trwający od 2.01.2020 r. protest głodowy w obronie niezależności wymiaru sprawiedliwości w Turcji. Mamy nadzieję, że to tragiczne wydarzenie przyczyni się do zmian w działaniu władz tureckich i do respektowania przez nie praworządności i praw człowieka w Turcji.  Wierzymy, że to dzięki jej ofierze drugi z tureckich prawników – Aytaç Ünsal, który w ostatnich miesiącach wspólnie z Ebru Timtik odbywał strajk głodowy, został uwolniony przez tureckie władze. Pamięć o Ebru Timtik i jej proteście pozostanie w nas żywa jako przykład bezkompromisowego stania po stronie fundamentalnych wartości przyświecających prawniczej profesji. Z powodu jej tragicznego odejścia, my – przedstawiciele tej samej profesji, przepojeni bólem składamy szczere kondolencje Rodzinie, Bliskim oraz jej Kolegom – prawnikom tureckim.

 

 

After the death of Turkish lawyer Ebru Timtik

It is with deep sadness that the Human Rights Committee of the National Bar Council of Attorneys-at-Law in Poland has learned about the death of the lawyer Ebru Timtik, a human rights advocate who has made the greatest sacrifice of her own life as a result of her participation in a hunger strike since 2^nd of January 2020 in defence of the independence of the judicial system in Turkey. We hope that this tragic event will contribute to a change in the actions of the Turkish authorities, as well as a greater respect for the rule of law and human rights in Turkey. We truly believe that it was a consequence of her sacrifice that the other Turkish lawyer, Aytaç Ünsal, who in last months has also participated in the hunger strike together with Ebru Timtik, was freed by Turkish authorities. The memory of Ebru Timtik and her protest will remain alive with us as an example of uncompromising standing on the side of fundamental values of the legal profession. Remembering her tragic passing and filled with sorrow, we, the representatives of the same profession offer our sincere condolences to the Family, Loved Ones and her fellow Turkish Lawyers.
